Hard-nosed hooker JOSH MANN-REA is on the brink of a Qantas Wallabies debut after heightening his claim for a gold jersey, following two strong Super Rugby seasons with the UC Brumbies.
He was rushed into the national squad after front row stocks took a dive and was awarded a spot on the bench for Australia’s 2014 Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship fixture against South Africa at Paterson Stadium, Perth.
In 2014, Mann-Rea became a full-time member of the Brumbies, earning nine caps with the Canberra side and quickly earning a reputation as a hard-working front-rower with a sound defensive game.
He has proved himself a valuable addition to any forward pack and featured for the NSW Country Eagles in the 2014 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship.
The Narromine born talent is no stranger to international Rugby, having played against The British & Irish Lions twice on their tour of Australia in 2013, for the Brumbies and also for the combined NSW & QLD Country team.
Mann-Rea began his journey to professional Rugby as a Queensland junior before joining the Waratahs Academy and making his debut for the New South Wales Super Rugby side in 2012, against the Stormers in Cape Town.
Prior to his Super Rugby debut, Mann-Rea featured in the Australian Rugby Championship in 2007 and spent several seasons playing in Japan with Top League club, Kyuden Voltex.
Despite being a relative late bloomer to the top tier of professional Rugby, Mann-Rae enjoyed a successful career at the junior representative level, earning selection in the Australian Schoolboys and Australian Under 21s.
