SAM CARTER is in his fourth season of Super Rugby in 2014 and is quickly making a name for himself as one of Australia’s toughest and most abrasive locks.
A lynchpin in the ACT Brumbies side, Cater is renowned for an impressive work rate, consistency in defence and his reliability at the set piece.
The towering lock is a crucial part of the clubs line-out and is praised by the club’s tight three for his ability to add firepower to the scrum.
As the son of former Wallaby David Carter, Sam will be looking to match his father’s career and represent the Wallabies in the seasons ahead.
Carter was the only non-Wallaby in the Brumbies’ forward pack that started the Super Rugby Final in 2013 against the Chiefs and is quickly transforming himself into a daunting lock at 200cm and over a 110kg.
He has already had a successful taste of international rugby, after being chosen in the Brumbies side which beat The British and Irish Lions in 2013.
Sam stole plenty of ball and troubled British and Irish Lions Captain Rory Best’s throw in the first 40 minutes, playing his part in the Brumbies first provincial victory over the northern hemisphere giants on Australian soil in more than 40 years.
Impressive form for the Sydney University Football Club earned him a Brumbies contract in 2011 and he has been a rock in the Canberra side ever since.
Carter hails from Quirindi in rural NSW and was educated at The Scots College in Bellevue Hill.
