Height: 1.96m
Weight: 110kg
Date Of Birth: 2/4/1991
Club: Melbourne Rebels

Up and comer LUKE JONES is on the verge of a Qantas Wallabies debut, with the powerful lock in the midst of a breakthrough Asteron Life Super Rugby season in 2014.
He plies his trade for the Melbourne Rebels and has established himself as an indispensable link in the young side, combining height and athleticism to bolster the back row or lock position.
At only 23 years of age, the boy nicknamed ‘Merlin’ is now in line for a spot in national team, with the fledging talent showing great potential as his Super Rugby dream continues to blossom.
He has flourished under new coach Tony McGahan and is now a standout performer in a talented Melbourne forward pack and what he lacks in experience he makes up for in raw aptitude for the game.
The versatile forward played a part in every game of 2013 for the Melbourne Rebels and is now a lynchpin in the starting side.
Jones’ Rugby debut came earlier than most, with the almost 200cm lock playing twice for the Western Force in 2010, making him the first schoolboy forward to sign on professional terms.
Melbourne poached him from Western Australia and it payed dividends, with Luke’s 2011 season earning him the ‘Rebel Rising Player of the Year Award.’
His journey to stardom began at St. Pius where the schoolboy prodigy worked his way into Australian Schoolboys and the Australian U20s team.
